Hi everyone! I wanted to tell you about another Clark Media production that is now available to the public! My fantastic euphonium colleague, Hiram Diaz, came to me in the spring with a great idea to make a new series of videos. Hiram, like many euphonium and trombone players, has been playing the 20 Counterparts duet series written by Tom Ervin, for many years. These are duets written to accompany the Bordogni/Rochut etudes that so many of us incorporate in to our daily practice. The videos include Hiram performing the duet part - the player utilizing the video provides the Bordogni etude. Hiram also has some excellent comments at the beginning of each video encompassing his performance practice and musical ideas about the piece. To purchase the original sheet music book, Counterparts, go to Tom Ervin's official website.

I have had a great time working on my new e-course for beginning trombonists, the Pathfinder Trombone Course, over the past few weeks. I wanted to see if I could create something of value for my students and their parents, and do everything myself, and do it all at home! I think I've succeeded! I feel like the course should really fill a gap in the current method "books" that are available for young students. If you agree, please share via your own social media networks. Please take a look at the introductory video, and leave me questions about the course in the comments here, or on Facebook. Cheers!
How many of you have had days, weeks, or even entire school years where you practice and practiced, or studied and studied, only to look in the rearview mirror and wonder what, exactly, you accomplished? Goal setting has been a key for me throughout the course of my career, and my use of goal setting has only accelerated as I have had more success.
Check out the video and share your own goal setting methods and thoughts in the comments!Read More
